Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety on its own is a common feeling of uneasiness, distress, or fear. We all experience anxiety at some point in our lives. If these feelings escalate and begin to interfere with daily life then it may be a sign of an anxiety disorder. Signs of anxiety canĀ  include dizziness, chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, restlessness, headaches, body tension, and shaking. Anxiety disorders can cause considerable distress for individuals and families, and can be debilitating. Treating an anxiety disorder can involve the use of medications and/or psychotherapy. Both medications and therapy may take time to work. The goal of treating anxiety disorders is not to eliminate anxiety but to make it more manageable, by alleviating distress and improving overall functioning.
